For a while I've been working on the idea of offering a Partner Yoga Workshop. I have now put together a 1-page workshop description (see here).
I'm excited about it!
I have yet not come across a partner yoga workshop in the viniyoga tradition -- so I think I've got a "first" here.
This is interesting mainly because it raises the question: is there a place for partner yoga in the viniyoga tradition?
I think there is. Viniyoga is taught to young children, and modified to make it accessible for them. Viniyoga is taught to very fit people (e.g. athletes) to help them perform better. There's viniyoga for pregnancy. And viniyoga is taught to the elderly or less able, because it enhances the quality of their lives.
The key words are: needs, objectives, and adaptation.
I think there simply is a need for couples to practice yoga; not as individuals, but as a couple (I'm expanding on this point in the flyer I linked to above). And viniyoga offers the flexibility to adapt yoga to the requirements of the practitioner, or -in this case- the practitioners.
Yoga is mostly practiced in splendid isolation. But it's also a wonderful practice to share.
I hope the workshop will be a success!
